Vehicle Detail:
1969 Lotus Europa S2. Bought as a wreck in 2003 and restored to very good condition. The car was rebuilt to as close to original as possible which includes steel wheels and chrome Lotus hubcaps. A set of restored Cosmic 6″ mags are included. There is a lengthy list of spares as well as service history since 2005 and a workshop manual. The interior was completely refurbished to as close to original as possible except for and early ’70s pushbutton AM/FM radio. The body was taken back to bare fibreglass and imperfections filled with a resin/chopped glass paste. No body filler was used. The shell was then primed and top-coated in Sikkens Autocryl Plus 2 pack. The steel wheels were also sandblasted and painted in 2 pack.
The car is powered by the original Renault 1400cc engine which at some stage was rebored to 1500cc. There are also a couple of other modifications for better power. The original inlet/exhaust manifold and Solex carbi were replaced I believe by the Melbourne importer for a Weber 45DCOE double barrel side draft carbi coupled to a Warneford cast alloy inlet manifold. The exhaust is a very nicely built 4 to 1 tuned extractors which are now ceramic coated. I believe the original owner replaced the camshaft with a mildly ground Wade camshaft that helps improve power output again.
All original receipts from the rebuild are available along with a tuning manual for the Weber.
